ARE YOU THE STUDENT BOARD MEMBER WE’RE LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for an ArtEZ student (BA or MA) with a strong interest and some experience in artistic research to join our APRIA platform advisory board for the 2022-2023 academic year.
The APRIA platform
APRIA is a curated publishing platform that embraces diversity (various voices from multiple identities, perspectives, approaches, cultures, and experiences) as an important value. APRIA is constantly looking for contributions from students, artists and researchers who would like to share their research. The format of the contributions can vary from articles to image essays, films and podcasts. APRIA addresses the question of how the arts can contribute to scenarios for the future.
What can you expect from this position?
You will work with a team of professionals from different art disciplines. With this team you will brainstorm about the topic a new Open Call. Together you will assess the quality of submitted research to the Open Call by following criteria such as: how is the research structured, how does the research relate to other artistic research, and how urgent is the research? Is it interesting for a wide audience interested in de-disciplined artistic research and open to committed critical narratives?
As a board member on the APRIA platform advisory board, you will:
- attend scheduled advisory board meetings throughout the academic year (ca. 3 meetings per year);
- advise on themes for the Open Call that are in line with the APRIA statement (see here);
- recruit authors/students to submit to the open call;
- assess the quality of the open call submissions and provide feedback and (limited) guidance to the authors.
Meetings, preparation, and payment
Meetings take place approx. three times a year and last approx. three hours each. In addition, you will spend time preparing for the meetings. This includes reading, viewing, and listening to the submissions as a result of an Open Call, assessing the submissions and feeding feedback to some authors, and guiding them in adjusting contributions.
We pay three hours for preparation time and three hours per meeting. Three hours are also reimbursed for the assessment. Compensation based on student assistance fee/minimum youth wage.
