Notes on the University

Abstract: ‘Notes on the University’ is a diaristic video essay that tentatively explores my own relationship with the university. It juxtaposes analyses of the university by Stefano Harney and Fred Moten with images of an office building and a university faculty building. Using a logic of parataxis visually and linguistically, the work combines unstable VHS footage and grainy digital images to attempt to think through, in a destabilised manner, what it means to currently be a student.
